This month’s featured Track of the Month is Cape Coral BMX, located in sunny Cape Coral, Florida. Cape Coral opened its gates in 1978 and back in the day its “claim to fame” was the track’s seashell surface. “No one forgets the cuts they got when falling,” says Track Operator, Nick Jones.

Nick has been TO at Cape Coral for the past 7 years. “We have the only real decision maker in Florida that creates a significant advantage for those willing to take it,” he says when asked about his favorite elements of the track. Of course, he has had many memorable moments at Cape Coral but Nick’s favorites are having the largest USABMX National in Florida History in January of 2021 and giving all of his kids advice while dressed as the tooth fairy for Halloween.

Every BMX rider is a super star and Cape Coral has had some notable names fly down it’s track. “We have had some outstanding riders call Cape BMX home,” Nick states. “Most notably is Maliek Byndloss who won an amateur national title. Currently Avery Jones is our most famous/popular rider right now. With multiple national rankings, Florida rider of the year, and current State Series Pro Am leader, she has helped put our program on the map again.” Go Avery!

Exciting things are happening at the track this year. Cape Coral hosted a Florida State Race in December of 2023, has a Gold Cup Qualifier coming up in May and has submitted a bid to host a National Race in 2025. Nick Jones adds, “We also just did a full rebuild of our track. If you want to be challenged on the track, come to the Cape.”

Heading to Cape Coral BMX and wondering where to get some good grub nearby? Here are Nick’s suggestions, “Torched, 10 Twenty Five, Foster Burger, and Three Pepper Burrito Company are all close to the track and have fantastic food.”

Three important things to know about Cape Coral BMX:

  • We are entirely run by volunteers.
  • We pride ourselves on having the best concessions.
  • We are emphasizing a focus on new riders with many new rider clinics and classes.
