This month’s featured Track of the Month is The Hill BMX, located in Elgin, Illinois. The Hill opened up back in 1990, with Joanne Mulvihill taking over as Track Operator about three years ago. This track sports some unique features that make it a blast to ride. According to Joanne, favorite elements at The Hill include, “The hill that it is built on, the Monster Turn 1, the crazy deep Turn 2 (nicknamed the cereal bowl) and the unforgiving rhythm section."

Running a BMX track makes for loads of incredible memories and Joanne says her favorite so far is, “Last year’s HUGE state race weekend!” The Hill is also home to veteran BMX riders including Pro Stefan Fahey, Olajuwan Davis, and Factory Pro Rider for Standard Bykes, Marco Zablocki. Looking down the track, The Hill has some exciting events coming up! “We have a Double, Triple, Triple race weekend. Earned Double, a State Triple and a Gold Cup Triple, weekend is May 17th, 18th, and 19th,” explains Joanne. Planning on visiting The Hill and wondering where to get a bite to eat? Joanne recommends, “Los Comales, Emily's Mexican Grill or Bellos Restaurant of Elgin.”

Three important things to know about The Hill BMX:

  • Every year our volunteers host a huge race weekend for Halloween.
  • We have the Easter Bunny for Easter weekend, we have a picnic for Memorial Day weekend, and we have an Ice Cream Social (free ice cream for the kids).
  • Our track has the BEST track volunteers in BMX.

The track is always in great shape all the time. Track peeps A+ (volunteers) take it to heart to make sure of it. Great staff and I feel spoiled to have this so close to home. It is all downhill and FAST! If you have a chance run it… do it! Strap yourself in for the first turn.
