Chaos Squad Team Manager Donnie Dunlap’s family started riding BMX back in 2020 and started their own team shortly after that. “We slowly invited local riders to join and started to travel more and more,” Donnie says, “Beginning in 2022 we started a national team and haven't looked back!” At the end of their first year, the team had a total of ten members and now Chaos Squad is made up of over 30 riders in three different states.
While many riders request to join the Chaos Squad team, Donnie says that most are recruited. “But all riders on our trophy team get approved by our Board. National riders are scouted and recruited only,” he explains. The age range of the team highlights that BMX really is for everyone. Their youngest member, riding a balance bike, just turned two years old and their oldest rider is 61.
Donnie feels an immense sense of pride when looking back over the progression of the team these last few years. When asked about the most memorable moments for the team he beams, “Looking at the Gold Cup & NAG plates we’ve been awarded over the last 3.5 years and realizing how awesome my group of riders is and continues to be.” Looking forward, Chaos Squad’s major team goal is “Just be better than we were yesterday!” and Donnie remarks that the team is constantly working towards progressing, “We do clinics and travel together always pushing our riders to get better!" His team is excited to put all that hard work to the test in the Gold Cup series this year. “A lot of riders got so close to getting plates last year and really want it this year!”, he says.
